Tottenham Hotspur are among three Premier League clubs closely monitoring Brentford striker Yoane Wissa.

BBC Sport claims the 28-year-old has returned to London, where he will talk with Brentford director of football Phil Giles to discuss his future.

He departed the club’s pre-season camp in Portugal amid mounting transfer speculation.

The Bees had been preparing for the new season, but there is uncertainty around the future of the 27-time capped DR Congo international.

Spurs, Newcastle United, and Nottingham Forest are leading contenders to sign him.

All three clubs can offer European football this coming campaign – an attractive prospect for Wissa.

He scored 19 Premier League goals last term and is one of Brentford’s most direct attacking threats.

Tottenham and Newcastle have intensified efforts to sign him over the past 48 hours, with personal terms unlikely to be a stumbling block in either case.

Tottenham view Wissa as a versatile option in manager Thomas Frank’s set-up. He can play wide or centrally in his system.

Spurs have not submitted a formal offer, but Wissa is believed to be unsettled by the ongoing speculation.

Tottenham signed Dominic Solanke for £65 million from Bournemouth last season. It does not bode well for the Spurs striker that Frank is looking for other options..
