“Keep going, always keep going” is one of Oliver Kahn’s most famous quotes. That motto also applies to RB Leipzig after three straight Bundesliga wins. The aim on Saturday evening at 18:30 CEST in Frankfurt is to bring home another three points.
At the press conference ahead of the game, Ole Werner explained how much the emphatic win in the reverse fixture still means to RBL and why a point would not be enough for him.
RB Leipzig currently sit 14 points clear of seventh-placed Eintracht Frankfurt. A draw would therefore be enough to make sure once and for all that the Red Bulls will be back competing in Europe next season.
But our head coach is not aiming for a draw. “The race for the European places is so tight that you always have to go for all three points. We do that anyway, of course. That gap can be deceptive,” Ole Werner stressed.

However, this will not be an easy task in Frankfurt. We know that from experience, with RBL still waiting for a first competitive win away to Eintracht. Ole had this to say about the opposition: “Frankfurt have a lot of individual quality. It is a huge challenge, especially away in Frankfurt. We have to not let ourselves be affected by the atmosphere. Eintracht are a good side, but we are in good form too and we are looking forward to the game.”
Frankfurt’s biggest strength since Albert Riera took over has been at the back. In their first 20 Bundesliga matches before Riera’s arrival, SGE shipped 45 goals, an average of 2.25 per game. Since then, they have let in nine goals in nine league matches, exactly one per game.
That is also why the reverse fixture, when RBL ran out 6-0 winners at the Red Bull Arena, does not carry much weight now. “That was a long time ago,” said Ole Werner. On Saturday, his team will be facing “a different Frankfurt side”. At the same time, our head coach added: “We are more solid as well and have improved in the way we play.”
That is why the Red Bulls will go into the game full of confidence. If the memory of the reverse fixture gives the team one thing, Werner said, it is “the feeling that we can beat this Frankfurt side.” On Saturday evening, the message will be clear once again: keep going, always keep going!
