Yuri Alberto equals Luizão, passes Biro-Biro in Corinthians scoring

The 2025 Copa do Brasil final went down in Corinthians history for several reasons. In addition to securing the club’s fourth title in the competition, the match also marked an important individual milestone for Yuri Alberto. The striker left his mark in the 2-1 victory over Vasco da Gama at Maracanã, achieving a significant feat in the club’s all-time scorers ranking.

With the goal scored in the final, the number 9 reached 76 goals in 207 matches wearing the black and white shirt. This achievement allowed him to surpass Biro-Biro and equal Luizão among the top scorers in Corinthians’ history. The former center-forward, a club idol, also scored 76 goals, but in just 109 games, while Biro-Biro had reached 75 goals over 590 appearances.

Before the final, Yuri shared the position with Biro-Biro on the club’s historic list. The goal at Maracanã, therefore, not only broke the tie but also placed the striker alongside one of the great names in Corinthians’ history.

The goal also carried symbolic weight as it ended a scoring drought. Yuri Alberto’s last goal had been on November 20, when he scored twice in the victory over São Paulo at Neo Química Arena. His return to scoring came precisely in the most decisive match of the season, reaffirming his importance in big games.

His performance against Vasco also gained more impressive numbers. With the goal in the final, Yuri now has three goals in six matches against the Rio club. Over the course of the season, the striker finished as Corinthians’ top scorer in 2025, with 19 goals, proving decisive at various moments during the title campaign.

The recent record further reinforces the prominence of the number 9. In 2024, Yuri Alberto finished the year as the top scorer in Brazilian football, with 31 goals, consolidating a streak of seasons marked by impressive numbers and decisive performances.
