Corinthians’ 1-0 win over São Bernardo on Sunday came at a cost, with Yuri Alberto forced off after feeling his left hamstring.

According to Meu Timao, the striker began on the bench and, less than 30 minutes after coming on, felt pain in the back of his left thigh. He left in tears and was carried from the pitch by staff.

The no. 9 was replaced by defender Gabriel Paulista, could not put weight on his left foot and was then taken to the dressing room.

He is expected to be assessed by the medical department in the coming days to establish the extent of the problem. Hamstring injuries range from Grade 1 strains to Grade 3 ruptures, with recovery times from weeks to months.

With Yuri Alberto unavailable, and Kaio César also recovering from an issue in the same area, Dorival Júnior’s attacking options are Gui Negão, Vitinho, Kayke and Pedro Raul. Memphis remains the leading reference up front.

Corinthians are next in action on Thursday 19 against Athletico Paranaense at Arena da Baixada, a rescheduled second-round Brasileirão fixture. On the 22, they face Portuguesa at Canindé in a single-leg Paulistão quarter-final.
