Yuri Berchiche could feature tomorrow in the Copa del Rey last 16 at Cultural Leonesa, Cuco Ziganda’s side, according to El Correo.

He returned to first-team work in Friday’s morning session at Lezama after several weeks sidelined with a hamstring injury.

His involvement will depend on how he comes through the latest sessions and the caution Ernesto Valverde wishes to apply, with the team seeking a lift after the Supercopa defeat to Barça.

If he is not ready, Adama Boiro is the natural option at left-back, though the cup could offer a gentle route back for the veteran.

Yuri was injured in last year’s final away league match at Celta in Balaidos and has not made any of the four fixtures played between late December and the start of 2026.

In that spell Athletic beat Oursense after extra time in the cup, lost to Espanyol in the league and Barça in the Supercopa, and drew with Osasuna at El Sadar.

Aymeric Laporte trained separately on Friday and does not appear likely to make the tie at the Reino de León.
