Algeria: Zinedine Zidane expected for matches against Somalia and Uganda
Luca Zidane has officially reported to the Sidi Moussa Technical Center for his first call-up with the Algerian national team. This is no longer a surprise: the Granada goalkeeper is now officially included in Vladimir Petkovic's squad for the October camp. According to several sources close to the national team, Zinedine Zidane's son is even tipped to start the crucial upcoming match against Somalia in Oran, with a possible rotation for the following fixture in Tizi Ouzou against Uganda should Algeria secure qualification.
But the young goalkeeper may not be alone—he could have some heavyweight support: his family. All signs point to Zinedine Zidane himself making the trip with his loved ones to attend the match and cheer on his son in a Green jersey, a symbolic moment for an entire nation.
If Algeria triumphs over Somalia, they will officially book their ticket to the 2026 World Cup, their first appearance since 2014. That year, the Fennecs wrote one of the most glorious chapters in their history by reaching the round of 16 against then-world champions Germany.
