The international break is very dull for club football fans, let’s face it. We’ve tried to entertain ourselves watching England, but we’re really just sitting here waiting for Friday’s press conference so that we can get back into the warm embrace of the Premier League fixture calendar again.
Ryan Kavuma-McQueen pings one top bins for England.
To be fair, the boredom you get in these breaks does end up leading you down some interesting avenues. We probably wouldn’t have been paying too much attention the England Under-17 game yesterday if there was a thrilling Chelsea match to care about.
But instead it was a thrilling Chelsea talent playing for that team who caught the eye. As we noted yesterday, Ryan Kavuma-McQueen notched four for the Young Lions and has everyone talking about him now. The Daily Mail, stuck in the same content desert we are, did a piece about him today which has some interesting details for the less informed.
They note that RKMQ is set to sign his pro deal in January when he turns 17, at which point he will potentially be in consideration for first team minutes. He already regularly trains with the main group when numbers are needed.
“He is on Maresca’s radar,” writes Kieran Gill, noting that the likes of 16 year old Reggie Walsh and Shim Mheuka have already played for the first team under the Italian coach.
Without the Conference League this season it will be far harder for these youngsters to break through, but the important thing is that the manager is keeping an eye on them. Cobham is producing these future stars faster than we can integrate them. We love to see it and we can’t wait to see what Ryan does next…
