The focus on renewals continues at FC Barcelona, as the club already seems to have a clear plan in mind. After all, the continuity of the team’s star players is a top priority for the Catalan giants. However, not every negotiation at Barcelona is as straightforward as the other that goes smoothly.
After wrapping up the renewals of several other key players, including the likes of Pedri, Gavi, and Ronald Araujo, the club is now taking the next step as well. The player who is set to have his contract renewed next is the youngest out of all of these players, but his future and potential both know absolutely no bounds.
As highlighted by Fabrizio Romano, 18-year-old Spanish centre-back Pau Cubarsi is next in line to have his contract renewed. He is set to formally complete his new contract signing until June 2030, and that will then see the player continue at the Catalan club for five more years at least.
According to the Italian journalist, the agreement for this renewal was already established back in June of 2024 on a verbal basis. Now, with the player having turned 18, he is eligible to put pen to paper and sign the deal that was previously agreed upon by all parties.
This will undoubtedly be a major step for the Catalan giants, who know just how important Cubarsi is to the club’s future and the way the team plays. Hansi Flick has undoubtedly relied a lot on the young defender this season, and it is a completely valid decision considering his quality.
However, Barça’s aspirations will not just stop with Cubarsi’s renewal. There is another academy gem, namely 17-year-old Lamine Yamal, whose contract needs to be sorted out as well. Fortunately, Barcelona Director Deco has already provided a positive update on the matter and it is taken for granted that the young winger will be renewing his deal with the club.
