FLW's Boro fan pundit has suggested a loan move for George McCormick could reap its rewards
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more...
Middlesbrough have plenty of young, upcoming talent who could have their part to play in the future.
Michael Carrick will be pleased with his Middlesbrough squad. Injuries are really the only thing holding this Boro side back from its full potential.
The 4-1 battering of QPR on Tuesday night certainly helps back up this factor, but Carrick will keep in mind the youth of his side needing more game time.
They've produced some great talents from their academy in the past, most notably and recently, Hayden Hackney, who is on many Premier League clubs' radar.
Hackney got his loan move to Scunthorpe United at a younger age, which helped him become a regular in the Boro squad. Could the same fortunes be met for this youngster if he follows the same pathway?
FLW's Middlesbrough fan pundit, Jasper Hudson, has detailed one player who could do with a loan move in this coming window when asked by FLW.
"George McCormick is a player I'd definitely consider loaning out. By January time we should have Alex Bangura back, who is another body in that left-back position.
"It would be good for McCormick to get some first-team experience. He's highly rated at the club, and has made some sub appearances for the first team, so, it will be interesting to see what he'd do with a decent loan spell. He could be a decent player at League Two level, possibly League One.
"We haven't seen much of him, but he's highly rated at the club. There are a few other young players but, I don't think they're quite ready for loan. Law McCabe could be someone we see going out on loan next season.
"I don't really see any first-team players going out on loan and I think the squad is in a good position. McCormick is the only one I'd consider to definitely get some experience as it would benefit him.
I"t can't be understated how important it is to get first-team experience."
The young left-back hasn't exactly made his mark on the big stage, but this is only due to him not getting the game time.
McCormick showed his promise to the Boro faithful during pre-season after Bangura's injury. This led him to make his debut in the EFL Cup off the bench against Leeds United.
Since then, he has started an EFL Cup game, and came off the bench in Boro's 1-0 away victory against West Brom to make his Championship debut.
The club seem to have high praise for the young talent after he was rewarded in the summer with a new deal after impressing in the under 21s, but just last month he was also given a year extension which will see him contracted to the club till 2027.
Fans have saluted McCormick for his strong character at such a young age, and a season out on loan in League Two/One could really bring the youngster's potential to a bigger stage.
