2030 World Cup: Final to be held at Santiago Bernabéu?
The final of the 2030 World Cup is expected to take place in Madrid, at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. According to the Spanish daily Marca, an agreement has been reached between Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid, and Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA.
The meeting between the two men reportedly took place in the United States, on the sidelines of the Club World Cup. After discussions, the newly renovated home of Real Madrid was chosen to host the most anticipated match of the tournament.
Several other cities were in contention to host this historic final. Rabat, the Moroccan capital, was long considered a favorite. Barcelona, despite ongoing renovation work at Camp Nou, was not selected. Ultimately, FIFA decided in favor of the Spanish capital.
The Santiago Bernabéu, now transformed into a state-of-the-art arena, can welcome more than 85,000 spectators. The stadium features a retractable roof, movable walls, and a 360-degree circular LED screen. It's a spectacular setting for what promises to be a legendary final.
The 2030 World Cup will be unique, celebrating the centenary of the inaugural edition played in Uruguay in 1930. Forty-eight national teams will compete, with the tournament running from June 8 to July 21, 2030.
