Typically, a defending champion in Major League Soccer will have at least one player in the All-Star the next season. However, the 2025 Los Angeles Galaxy team (3-7-14) does not have one representative playing this Wednesday in Austin, Texas.
Last year, both Gabriel Pec and Riqui Puig were sent to the All-Star Week from the LA Galaxy. Pec got named to play in the All-Star Game and Puig was selected to participate in the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge.
Since 1996, the Los Angeles Galaxy has always had someone from their roster earn an All-Star selection. That is until this year.
Here are some interesting numbers and stats for the LA Galaxy from the other 29 MLS All-Star festivities.
In 1996, the Los Angeles Galaxy boasted six players on the MLS West All-Star Team, all on the Starting XI. Five teams made up the Western Conference: the Galaxy, Dallas Burn, San Jose Earthquakes, Colorado Rapids and the Kansas City Wizards.
Goalkeeper Jorge Campos, defender Robin Frasier, midfielder Cobi Jones, and forward Eduardo Hurtado, were all a part of the first MLS All-Star roster. Defender Dan Calichman and midfielder Mauricio Confuegos were also starters that year, too.
Lothar Osiander, who was the head coach of the LA Galaxy in 1996, was elected to lead the charge for the MLS West All-Stars that year.
The MLS East All-Stars beat the West by a score of 3-2. The game was held at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey in the first-ever MLS All-Star Game. Hurtado and Confuegos both recorded an assist in that game, but neither player socred.
It wasn't until the 1997 MLS All-Star Game when a member of the LA Galaxy scored a goal. Believe it or not, it was actually their goalkeeper, Jorge Campos. His score put the MLS West All-Stars up 2-0 entering halftime despite losing 5-4.
Cobi Jones found the back of the net in the 86th minute to tie the game up 4-4. Unfortunately, Brian McBride scored two minutes later to seal the MLS East All-Stars second victory ever.

This one might not be a surprise but the record is still held by Landon Donovan. He earned 13 consecutive All-Star nominations in his career.
His first four were with his original MLS team, the San Jose Earthquakes. But when Donovan joined the LA Galaxy in 2005, he was named an All-Star every season until 2014 when he retired (for the first time).
The 2002 MLS season was rather historic for the Los Angeles Galaxy. Not only was it their fourth MLS Cup Finals appearance, but they finally won their first title in the league.
That very season, Carlos Ruiz was named an All-Star. He also became the first ever MVP of the All-Star Game to represent the LA Galaxy.

The all-time leader in goals and assists for the Galaxy has accomplished a lot in this MLS career. Hailed as one of the best U.S.-born soccer players in history, Landon Donovan, has won two MVP Awards at the MLS All-Star Game.
His first one came in 2001 when he debuted in the league and played for the San Jose Earthquakes. Donovan played with the LA Galaxy from 2005 to 2014 and hoisted another MVP trophy at the 2014 MLS All-Star Game. Donovan and the Galaxy also celebrated their fifth-ever MLS Cup win that same year.
Not only was that the last time the Ontario, California native made the All-Star team, it was the last time he played in a full season for both the LA Galaxy or MLS. Donovan is the last LA Galaxy player to achieve this honor.
Without a representative from this year's roster, the LA Galaxy will have to wait at least one more season to see if they can make it a third player to win this honor. In the meantime, the defending MLS Cup Champions can rest before their next game against the Houston Dynamo..
