One of the stories to watch for this summer for Manchester City is regarding the future of Ederson. City’s number-one keeper has been linked with a potential move to the Saudi Pro League. Now a new report indicates that the Brazilian international is set to be offered a mammoth salary to move to the Gulf State. If Ederson does decide to accept an offer to head to the Saudi Pro League his potential exit has the potential to shape Manchester City’s summer transfer window.

A report from César Luis Merlo which was relayed by Sport Witness reports that Al-Nassr have offered Ederson a mammoth deal to leave Manchester City. It is reported by César Luis Merlo that Ederson has been offered a two-year deal worth €60 million. Furthermore, Luis Merlo reports that Al-Nassr are waiting to see if Ederson decides to accept their offer. If the Brazilian international does then Al-Nassr will attempt to negotiate a deal with Manchester City to sign Ederson.

What Ederson decides to do could shape City’s summer transfer window.

The reported salary on offer to Ederson from Al-Nassr is a tremendous figure. No one could begrudge the Brazilian international if he was to accept the Saudi Pro League club’s deal. There is also the possibility that Ederson could fancy a new challenge in his career. He has won everything on offer during his time and Manchester City. Those two factors could see City’s number one keeper call time in his City career.

But if he does depart from the world champions it would significantly alter City’s summer transfer plans. It would see the champions forced into the transfer market to find a suitable replacement. Keepers that are suited to Pep Guardiola’s style of play are not easy to find. Ederson is one of the world’s best keepers when City have possession. He is also a quality shot-stopper and sweeper-keeper when called upon. Finding a keeper with those traits is no easy task.

Fortunately, Stefan Ortega signed a contract extension with City earlier this summer. If Ederson does depart for the Saudi Pro League then Ortega could become City’s number one keeper. Ortega has proven that he is more than capable of stepping into Ederson’s shoes. But could he do it on a full-time basis? That could become the question that dictates City’s potential search for a keeper if Ederson does call time on his Manchester City career.

It now appears that Ederson has a decision to make. Whether he decides to remain at Manchester City or accepts the mammoth offer from Al-Nassr has the potential to change City’s summer transfer plans. What happens next with Ederson is now a story to follow during the transfer window.
