A new member is added to Pep Guardiola’s staff for the 25/26 season as Manchester City’s rebuild continues

This summer has been one of upheaval for Manchester City. So far four new signings have arrived at the club. There has also been a significant change to Pep Guardiola’s staff for next season. Today has seen another new member of Pep Guardiola’s staff confirmed for next season. Kolo Toure has been promoted from a coach for Manchester City’s under-18 side to the role of City first-team coach. Toure’s appointment follows on from the additions of Pep Lijnders and Jamie French to the Manchester City coaching staff for next season.
In an announcement on mancity.com, Kolo Toure’s promotion to Pep Guardiola’s staff has been confirmed. Toure was included in the Manchester City coaching staff for their recent FIFA Club World Cup campaign. Kolo Toure’s promotion comes after a successful spell as the Assistant Lead Coach with City’s Under-18s last season. From clips from Manchester City’s training at the FIFA Club World Cup Toure does bring energy and enthusiasm to Manchester City’s coaching staff. Toure has also spent time as a coach with the Ivory Coast national team and at Leicester City and Celtic under Brendan Rodgers. Kolo Toure also spent two months as manager of Wigan Athletic from late November 2022 until January 2023..
This summer always promised to be one of upheaval at Manchester City. The club began their rebuild last January with the signings of Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis, Omar Marmoush, Nico and Juma Bah. This summer the club has signed Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and Marcus Bettinelli to continue that process.
Off the pitch, Manchester City’s coaching staff has been refreshed. Juanma Lillo, Carlos Vicens and Inigo Dominguez all left the club earlier this summer. Pep Lijnders, Jamie French and now Kolo Toure have replaced them. There is a new look to City’s coaching staff and a different feel to what is developing at Manchester City. It will now be fascinating to see how Pep Guardiola integrates new ideas into his system and how City perform next season.
