‘A real project at a real club’ – Kylian Mbappé relieved Ethan Mbappé enjoying Lille stay | OneFootball

Kylian Mbappé (26) has revealed that a “weight had been lifted” off his shoulders after he saw how happy his younger brother Ethan (18) was at Lille OSC.

The two brothers both left Paris Saint-Germain this summer at the end of their contracts but took divergent routes. Kylian famously joined Real Madrid where he had been courted since he was a teenager, while Ethan instead remained in France.

Ethan was provided with a chance to develop his career at Lille, a club who have earned their reputation for providing young talents with the opportunity to grow.

It’s an environment that the younger Mbappé appears to be fully embracing. The teenager has been given opportunities in the first team this season (something only disrupted by a lengthy injury near the start of the campaign) and on Tuesday evening he was provided with his first start in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund.

Kylian explained in an interview with Clique.tv how pleased he was to see it work out for his brother, “It took a weight off my shoulders when I saw that he was happy in Lille, that he had a real project at a real club. He’s found good people and a very good club.” Kylian had previously explained that he would have stayed at PSG if it would have helped Ethan.

He further added, “It’s a big club but at the same time they’re a family club, where they will take care of him. They’ve taken Ethan, not Kylian’s brother. He can write his own story there and that makes me happy.”
