Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has highlighted the key factor to their massive victory over Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby on Saturday.
Tshepang Moremi broke the deadlock in the fifth minute, before Oswin Appollis doubled the lead on the stroke of half-time, while substitute Evidence Makgopa put the game to bed in the 78th minute.
Pirates leapfrogged Mamelodi Sundowns to the summit of the Betway Premiership table as they went three points clear, having picked up 41 points in 18 league outings.
Speaking after the match, Ouaddou says the major difference was the ruthless killer instinct - a subject he has been vocal about since he was installed as Jose Riveiro's successor.
“The spirit is still there, the team spirit, the fighting spirit of our team has been there for a while since the beginning of the season, and the aim to play some quality football as well is still there,” said the Bucs mentor.
"What changed today [Saturday] is the efficiency in the area of the through [final third]. It means that in the finishing we were spot on, in set-pieces I have to give credit to our boys today. I'm really happy, I'm a proud coach, I'm proud of my boys today.
"It's that kind of performance I'm expecting from them, high-level and it's in that moment that we can expect something and to play in the high level, to play for high ambition.
Pirates will swing back to Betway Premiership action with a clash against Polokwane City at the Peter Mokaba on Saturday, 04 March.
