Abel Ferreira titles earn PAOK bonuses, Palmeiras to pay R$ 323,000 | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Palmeiras’ 2025 financial statements list R$ 323,000 owed to PAOK in 2026, linked to bonuses triggered by Abel Ferreira’s trophies. This stems from the coach’s contract terms.

When Abel was hired in October 2020, the club agreed a release-clause package with a fixed sum and a variable element tied to sporting success. The arrangement set bonus payments for each championship won under the Portuguese.

The payments are staggered. One portion was settled in 2025, with R$ 323,000 the remaining balance due in 2026 as agreed with PAOK. Earlier settlement had been held up by missing documentation from the Greek club.

Abel also pays PAOK a sum per title, having assumed part of the cost at the time to overcome the club’s inflexibility and keep the move alive. He discussed the arrangement in 2023, and this is the first time PAOK appears in Palmeiras’ accounts with detailed figures.

Abel led PAOK for two seasons, taking charge of 57 matches between 2019/20 and 2020/21, before moving to Palmeiras in 2020. Since then he has spent more than five years at the helm and won 11 trophies, the most by any Palmeiras manager.
