Tammy Abraham is eager to ‘show everyone that I am back’ after his injury woes and trusts the victory over Inter can give Milan ‘belief’ going forward.

The centre-forward arrived on loan from Roma, with Alexis Saelemaekers going the other way to the Stadio Olimpico, and is well aware that many fans weren’t entirely happy that coach Paulo Fonseca wanted him.

However, he impressed coming off the bench against Liverpool midweek in the Champions League and started here as a pure centre-forward supported by Alvaro Morata in the 2-1 Derby della Madonnina win over rivals Inter.

“We are very happy. We know that Inter are a good team, but today we played with confidence, courage, passion and must gain belief from this to continue along this path,” Abraham told DAZN in a mixture of Italian and English.

The 26-year-old has found the net once with two assists in just four appearances for the Rossoneri.

He is still trying to rediscover his form after a devastating anterior cruciate ligament tear in his knee in June 2023.

“I came off the back of last season with a big injury, so I had to show everyone that I am back, I am here to help the team as much as possible, to give my team and the fans belief again.”

This was only the second win of the campaign for Milan, after a 4-0 over Venezia, between Serie A and the Champions League.

“We didn’t have the best start to the season, but we have to take the confidence from today, it’s a very important win,” concluded Abraham.

“Now is the time to rest and then we go again.”
