West Ham United sealed an excellent 2-0 win over Newcastle United to ease the pressure on manager Julen Lopetegui.
The Hammers were low on confidence before the away encounter as they had lost to Nottingham Forest and suffered a goalless draw in their last two matches.
However, West Ham produced an outstanding display at St James’ Park to secure all three points.
Newcastle were the better side in the beginning but fell behind when Tomas Soucek scored with a well-timed header.
Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak missed opportunities before Aaron Wan-Bissaka added another early in the second-half to help the Irons to a much-needed success.
BBC football pundit Troy Deeney was left hugely impressed with Max Kilman, calling him an “absolute monster”.
Deeney thinks the centre-back is getting better every week for West Ham.
The former Watford star included the 27-year-old in his Premier League team of the week, saying: “He is growing week by week. An absolute monster”.
Kilman arrived at the London Stadium last summer in a huge £40 million deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
However, he has proved to be worth every penny, as he has hit the ground running in East London.
The English footballer has started all 12 Premier League matches under Lopetegui, averaging 5.9 clearances, 4.7 ball recoveries and 1.2 interceptions per game.
Kilman posted impressive statistics against Newcastle in Monday’s game. He won 100% of his ground duels and completed 100% of his dribble attempts.
The defender registered eight clearances and an interception, with 89% passing accuracy.
