AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keeping close tabs on Marcus Rashford’s situation as Barcelona drag their feet on a permanent deal for the Manchester United loanee.
Barcelona have yet to definitively indicate whether or not they will sign Rashford permanently at the end of the season.
He has impressed since joining the Blaugrana last summer on a season-long loan. The England international has netted 10 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions.
Barcelona retain the option of keeping him permanently for £26m. Club president Joan Laporta suggested they may look to sanction another loan deal, extending the payment period. There have also been suggestions that they want to discuss a reduced fee.
United have made it clear they will not renegotiate and are even prepared to welcome Rashford back. The Red Devils believe that if Barcelona don’t sign him, other suitors will emerge for the forward’s signature. It’s understood that there has been interest from some English clubs.
Now, CaughtOffside reveal that AC Milan and PSG are also set to revive their pursuit of the Carrington academy graduate.
AC Milan were eyeing a swoop for Rashford before he joined Barcelona. PSG are also known admirers of the 28-year-old.
According to CaughtOffside, Milan and PSG are two teams “looking very closely” at Rashford amidst the possibility that he could become available.
However, other teams are likely to enter the fray in the coming weeks and months.
A source is alleged to have told CaughtOffside, “Barcelona are backtracking on Rashford now. It’s still not clear if they’ve closed the door entirely or if they’ll try to negotiate a lower fee, or if Rashford himself might have to lower his wage demands.”
Barcelona’s finances are said to be “an issue”, and this has opened the door to Rashford going elsewhere. His preference would be to stay at Camp Nou but there are significant hurdles to overcome.
Meanwhile, United are next in action on April 13 when they host arch-rivals Leeds United at Old Trafford.
