AC Milan travel to Udinese this weekend. They face off in what should be a captivating Serie A showdown this Saturday evening.
Both teams aim to extend their current positive streaks, with Udinese coming into this game buoyed by successive wins, notably their impressive victory over Inter Milan. Meanwhile, AC Milan look to secure their third straight triumph.
Ahead of the clash, Milan must cope with several injury setbacks. Their goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, is sidelined due to a right calf strain sustained in the recent 1-0 win against Bologna. The French keeper was spotted leaving San Siro on crutches and is not expected to return imminently, with Pietro Terracciano stepping in between the posts.
Strahinja Pavlovic has recovered well enough to rejoin full team training following his injury scare at Bologna, making him available for selection. On the other hand, Rafael Leao continues to nurse a calf injury and is unlikely to feature until Milan’s upcoming match against Napoli on September 28.
Christopher Nkunku is vying for his first start after impressing as a substitute against Bologna, where he was instrumental in winning two penalties. The French attacker has been putting in the effort to gel with his new teammates and could form the attacking partnership alongside Christian Pulisic given Leao’s absence. Milan will, however, be without coach Max Allegri himself, as he serves a suspension following a straight red card in their last fixture.
A standout performer for Milan has been the experienced Luka Modric, who celebrated his 40th birthday by netting his first goal for the club with a precise finish against Bologna. His midfield partnership with Adrien Rabiot has brought much-needed composure and quality to the side. Defensively, Milan have tightened up significantly, maintaining three clean sheets in four games across all competitions this season.
AC Milan Predicted XI: Terracciano; Tomori, Gabbia, De Winter; Saelemaekers, Rabiot, Modric, Estupinan; Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic; Nkunku
Saturday 20th September at 7:45pm BST.
For viewers in the UK, the match will be broadcast exclusively on DAZN, holders of the Serie A rights.
