The agent of out-of-favour Inter Milan goalkeeper Andrei Radu has explained why the Romanian rejected loans to Palermo and Sassuolo.

Speaking to Italian journalist Gianluca Rossi, via FCInterNews, agent Oscar Damiani explained that Radu felt he had been “burned before” with previous loan spells that left him back at square one.

At the moment, 26-year-old Romanian international goalkeeper Radu is still at Inter.

Radu is certainly not in the plans at the Nerazzurri for this season.

Reports have indicated that there has been interest in signing the Romanian from a few teams.

These have included teams in Ligue 1 in France. But then a move to a different team in Italy would also be possible.

Palermo showed an interest in Radu’s signature, aiming to bring him to Serie B. And then, Sassuolo seemed to be close to a deal.

The Neroverdi looked to sign Radu as part of their bid to win promotion straight back to Serie A after having been relegated to the second division last season.

But the move to Emilia-Romagna never went through in the end.

Radu has had a few loan experiences over the past couple seasons.

Last season, the Romanian was on loan at Bournemouth in the Premier League.

However, Radu virtually never played for the Cherries. It was little surprise to see the Premier League club not exercise their purchase option.

Prior to then, Radu had been on loan at Cremonese for the first half of the 2022-23 campaign. Then he spent the second half of that season at Auxerres.

According to Radu’s agent, the offers for the 26-year-old this summer were only for more loans.

And that is not what the player wants.

Of Sassuolo and Palermo, agent Damiani said that “There were negotiations.”

“But there was no agreement. Because they wanted a loan.”

“He wanted at least a two-year contract,” Damiani said of Radu. “He wanted something more certain than a loan.”

“Because then at the end of the season they can choose a different keeper, and what do you do then?”

“If a club believes in a player then they give him a 2-3 year contract,” Damiani argued.

Damiani called Palermo “A good place to go, with the City group behind him.”

“But they could have made a different choice. Maybe they didn’t fully believe in him.”
