An agent has refused to rule out a possible transfer to Liverpool for his client.

January is slowly coming round the corner and that means rumours are rife about who could be arriving at Anfield.

It's often a quiet window for Liverpool. The Reds don't like to do business in the winter unless they really have to because a potential target becomes available or sought-after by other clubs.

In the past Liverpool have been reactive when pursuing potential deals. They secured the signature of Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz after Manchester United and Tottenham respectively made an approach for their services.

The club also secured Virgil van Dijk in the January window, and let's not forget about Luis Suarez who was also a winter signing.

There's of course been some emergency transfers as well. Ozan Kabak, Ben Davies and Steven Caulker are examples of deals that were forced out of necessity but the Reds are not in a position to need to do that.

So, Richard Hughes will be keeping his eyes on the market but he won't be moving proactively. He'll be behind the shadows, lurking and watching ready to strike should he need to.

The one player who Liverpool need to keep a close eye on is Antoine Semenyo. His release clause becomes active next month and he will be available for just £65m.

Considering his status as one of the best attackers in the Premier League, for that price Semenyo will be an absolute bargain and unsurprisingly, Liverpool are not the only club interested in him.

Jeremy Jacquet and Marc Guehi's situation is one to watch as well. If either of the two become available, Hughes could again act because they are both regarded as long-term targets.
