Agustín Marchesín will return in goal for Boca against Independiente after a rapid recovery. The 38-year-old is back only 20 days after a grade three right adductor injury, with the Apertura 2026 match set for Saturday at La Bombonera.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, head coach Claudio Úbeda put him through full training on return from Chile and has decided he will start.

His comeback arrives amid planned rotation after the win in Santiago over Universidad Católica in Boca’s Copa Libertadores opener. Úbeda intends to manage workloads.

Miguel Merentiel, who has pubic pain, and Adam Bareiro, who has fatigue, could be rested. Leandro Paredes is suspended after receiving his fifth yellow card.

A side similar to the one that faced Talleres in Córdoba is possible. In front of Marchesín, the back line could comprise Juan Barinaga, Nicolás Figal, Marco Pellegrino and Malcom Braida. Exequiel Zeballos is available again and could get minutes.

Since joining at the start of 2025, Marchesín has been first choice, missing out only through injury or to hand Leandro Brey minutes in the Copa Argentina. He has played 51 official matches, keeping 23 clean sheets.

The match is matchday 14 of the Torneo Apertura 2026 and kicks off on Saturday 11 April at 19:30. Andrés Merlos will referee, assisted by Sebastián Raineri and Diego Bonfa, with Lucas Novelli on VAR. TV coverage is on TNT Sports Premium, Pack Fútbol.

Buoyed by their Libertadores win and with a key figure back in goal, Boca aim to end their long run without beating Independiente at the Alberto J. Armando, where they have not won since 2017.
