Ajax agree deal with Wolves for Nigerian striker at heart of training ground row | OneFootball

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tolu Arokodrae is set to join Ajax. The Wolves striker, formerly of Genk, was at the heart of a training ground row the other week that saw Wolves cancel a training session. Now, the player and club have found a solution with Ajax the beneficiary. The deal will initially be a loan with Ajax having an option to buy the Nigerian striker for €20m.

Arokodare now returns to the low countries where he had great success, albeit across the border in Belgium. Prior to joining Wolves, the Nigerian forward had been signed by Genk as a replacement for Paul Onuachu, who had left for Southampton. The now 25-year-old scored twice in 11 games during his initial six month spell before really pushing on in the following two seasons. During the 2023/2024 season he scored 15 goals in 52 games, with 23 in 45 games the next year. He joined Wolves in 2025 but struggled to replicate the scoring talent he had shown in Belgium. He scored six goals in 38 games for Wolves and is now set to depart for Ajax.
