Alberto Aquilani has been appointed Sassuolo head coach, returning to the club he represented in 2016-17. According to L'Équipe, the Italian takes charge of the Emilia-Romagna side.
The 41-year-old previously led Fiorentina's U19s, then coached Pisa in Serie B.

Most recently he guided Catanzaro through a strong Serie B campaign, narrowly missing promotion to Serie A.
Sassuolo finished 11th last season and have parted company with Fabio Grosso.
Grosso had earlier taken the Neroverdi back to the top flight in 2024-25.
Aquilani now begins his first managerial role at the highest level.
