Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho is giving ‘priority to Napoli’ over Chelsea ahead of a possible exit from Old Trafford this month, according to Sky Sports.
Napoli have set their sights on Garnacho to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. They are also interested in Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi.
The Italian club are struggling to meet Garnacho’s valuation but will resume talks with Man United ‘in the next few hours’ to find a compromise.
United have lowered their demands for the Argentina international. They are ready to sell him for £ 55 million.
However, it appears that Napoli want a further reduction. They want an ‘agreement in principle’ with Garnacho’s representatives to force United to ‘lower their demands’.
The Red Devils are not in a ‘financial position’ to reject a sizeable fee for the 20-year-old. His sale offers ‘pure profit’ to the club, being an academy graduate.
This will help them stay within the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) limits and sign new players.
While Chelsea are following the talented forward, they have not yet shown official interest in his services.
Manager Enzo Maresca has United loanee Jadon Sancho and Portuguese forward Pedro Neto as left-wing options. This raises doubts about whether they need Garnacho.
There is still a possibility that the Blues will sign him. They want to dispose of Christopher Nkunku, and United are working on swapping Garnacho for the French forward.
Manager Ruben Amorim has stated that he is ‘happy’ with the 2024 Puskas Award winner, hinting that he could stay at Old Trafford beyond this month.
He has forced his way back into Amorim’s plans, starting four of the last five games across all competitions, including the victory over Fulham on Sunday.
However, he has yet to show that he can play as the number 10 in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation, registering two goal involvements under the Portuguese tactician.
