Alejandro Garnacho says he has joined Aston Villa to get his career back on track and rediscover his confidence.
The 22-year-old winger believes working with Unai Emery offers his best route to that, according to ExpressAndStar.com.
He arrives on an initial season-long loan that includes a conditional option to buy, less than a year after moving from Manchester United to Chelsea for £40m.
Garnacho struggled for consistency at Stamford Bridge and has now linked up with the Europa League winners determined to silence doubters.
Emery has long admired Garnacho and tried to sign him last summer before his Old Trafford exit. The Villa head coach pushed again after Morgan Rogers was sold to Chelsea in a British record £117m deal.
The forward has agreed terms on a four-year contract at Villa if the conditions for a permanent transfer are met.
He said he sought a club to regain belief and resemble the player of his early Manchester United years. After talks with Emery, he thinks the manager will give him the confidence to help the team and he cannot wait to start, describing Villa as an important club that is growing quickly.
Garnacho also highlighted Villa’s European step, noting last season’s Europa League and this season’s Champions League, which he views as the top competition and important to be part of.
