Arsenal suffered a 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Eli Junior Kroupi opened the scoring in the 17th minute after he turned in a deflected cross at the back post to give the Cherries the lead.

Arsenal could have responded immediately from Declan Rice’s corner, but Kai Havertz headed just wide.

Gabriel Magalhaes then made a crucial block to deny Kroupi a second goal at the other end.

The Gunners were awarded a penalty after the ball struck Ryan Christie’s arm in the area.

Viktor Gyokeres stepped up for the stop-kick and converted beyond Djordje Petrovic.

Evanilson could’ve given the visitors the lead, but David Raya kept out his left-footed strike.

Shortly after the restart, Raya almost gifted Bournemouth the lead after his failed clearance struck Evanilson, but the ball bounced wide.

Gyokeres thought he had given Arsenal the lead in the 65th minute, but the offside flag denied him.

Alex Scott fired the Cherries ahead after he teed up with Evanilson at the edge of the area before sending Raya the wrong way.

Gyokeres could’ve restored parity for the hosts after Petrovic spilt the ball to him, but his deflected effort flew over the bar.

He had another two chances to draw Arsenal level but couldn’t hit the target on both occasions.

Arsenal have suffered a major blow to their title push. They are nine points above Manchester City, who have two games in hand.
