Alexandra Popp to leave Wolfsburg after 14 seasons and join Borussia Dortmund

Alexandra Popp will leave VfL Wolfsburg after 14 seasons to return to the Ruhr with Borussia Dortmund this summer.
According to L'Équipe, the 34-year-old has signed a contract running to 2029. She was presented on Saturday before the men's Bundesliga match against Augsburg on matchday 26.
Born in Witten, between Bochum and Dortmund, the former Germany striker has 145 caps and 67 goals, and has often tormented France at major tournaments.
For Wolfsburg she played 251 matches and scored 127 goals. Since 2012 she has won two Champions Leagues, seven Bundesligas and 13 German Cups, plus Olympic gold in 2016.
Dortmund's women's team was launched in 2020 and currently compete in the Regionalliga, the third division. Popp said her heart beats for BVB as her future team continue their push for promotion.
