Alexandre Dujeux has left his role as Angers head coach. His contract had been automatically extended to 2028 after this season’s survival, and the club had hoped to keep him.
The club announced the decision on Wednesday night, saying he had informed the hierarchy of his wish to end his role and wishing him success. According to L'Équipe, he has not agreed a new job at this stage, but his stock is high, with OGC Nice, to replace Claude Puel, and RC Lens among the clubs tracking him closely.
Dujeux joined Angers in May 2021 as Gérald Baticle’s assistant, then was promoted in March 2023 when the team were heading for relegation to Ligue 2.
He oversaw an immediate return to the top flight, finishing second in Ligue 2 behind Auxerre.
He then secured two Ligue 1 survivals despite the division’s smallest budget, with Angers finishing 13th this season.
