A major setback for Nadhir Benbouali! Just as he was hitting top form and was expected to make his return to the national team for the March international break, the 25-year-old striker has picked up an injury.

Struck during the match against Ujpest FC, the ETO FC forward was forced to leave the pitch just before half-time. Suffering from a hip problem, he also missed Tuesday's Hungarian Cup clash against Kecskeméti TE.

This injury could not have come at a more crucial time, as many observers believed the March break was the perfect opportunity for Benbouali—especially given the lack of efficiency among the Fennecs' strikers.

With 14 goals and 4 assists in 28 matches in Hungary, he stands out as one of the most in-form attacking players and was seen as a real option for Vladimir Petkovic.

Benbouali will undergo medical tests to determine the exact nature of his injury and how long he’ll be sidelined. Only then will he know if he’ll have a chance to don the Fennecs jersey for a second time after his appearance in the friendly against DR Congo (3-0) back in June 2022.
