Aliou Dieng, the Mali international, has bid farewell to Al Ahly after seven years, signalling that it is time for a new challenge. The 28-year-old closed one chapter on social media before opening another.
According to AS, Valencia concluded his signing in February, and he will arrive at Mestalla on a free when his Al Ahly contract expires on 30 June.
In his Instagram message he thanked supporters, officials, coaches and team-mates from his time in Egypt, saying he achieved what he came for, including four African Champions Leagues.
He reflected that the club had been his home, that he arrived a boy and leaves a man, and that he became a husband, a father and a fulfilled footballer there.
Without naming Valencia, he said the next step would be a new challenge and a fresh chapter in his career. He had begun to feature less in the plans at Al Ahly after informing the club he would not renew and after his informal agreement with Valencia emerged.
