FLW has ranked the current ability of each Championship's side's main 'number nine'

With the Championship season now entering its final quarter, all of the 24 sides in the division will be hoping to achieve their respective short-term aims for the remainder of the campaign.

At present, it is shaping up to be a dramatic end to the season at both ends of the table, with the automatic promotion, play-off and relegation spots all to be decided.

As such, each and every manager/head coach will be somewhat pinning their hopes on the prolificacy of their strikers between now and May, with the scoring charts also heavily congested as a plethora of individuals battle it out to secure the Championship's 'Golden Boot'.

With that being said, Football League World have ranked each club's 'leading' striker from best to worst.

At the top of the list as far as Championship strikers are currently concerned is none other than Zan Vipotnik of Swansea City.

It has been an inconsistent collective season for the Swans, but the same cannot be said for the Slovenian's individual performances, scoring a plethora of goal types and maintaining a predatory instinct inside the 18-yard box.

Unsurprisingly, Premier League clubs have become alerted to such form, meaning the Welsh side may have a battle on their hands to retain his services in the long-term.

2 ? ? Josh Sargent - Norwich City

In terms of longevity, Josh Sargent would be at the top of the list for his consistent performances year upon year for Norwich City.

However, whilst the USMNT international has amassed another respectable tally so far after hitting double figures in three successive campaigns despite injury issues, the 25-year-old has recently tarnished his legacy at Carrow Road.

Indeed, throughout the now-closed winter window, Sargent was demoted to the Canaries' reserve side by Philippe Clement after making himself 'unavailable' for an FA Cup tie against Walsall amid interest from Toronto FC.

Coventry City lead the scoring charts in terms of sides this season by some distance, although it has been a peculiar campaign as far as their strikers have been concerned.

It is fair to say, though, that the standout has remained in the form of Brandon Thomas-Asante, who netted 10 goals in 17 appearances before being sidelined in November with a hamstring issue.

It has also been a mixed return from the sidelines for the Ghanaian, as he was served with a three-game retrospective ban for an elbow on Pelle Mattsson of Norwich City on January 26th.

Just outside the top three is experienced Wrexham striker, Kieffer Moore.

The 33-year-old is a key reason behind the Red Dragons' fourth successive promotion bid at present, being the only player in Phil Parkinson's squad to reach double figures thus far.

Such a tally is also, in no small part, down to a 'perfect' hat-trick netted against Coventry at the Stok Cae Ras back on October 31st.

Just behind Moore is Oli McBurnie of Hull City, who is proving to also be one of the signings of the season on a free transfer.

Since joining the Tigers, McBurnie has enjoyed the most productive Championship season of his career thus far, amassing over 15 goal contributions despite being sidelined for a two-month period between October and December.

He will be hoping such form is enough to land him a place in Scotland's FIFA World Cup squad.

Rumarn Burrell has also been a bargain acquisition for Queens Park Rangers, with the Jamaican forward immediately finding form in the Championship.

Despite enduring an inconsistent campaign overall, the Hoops will certainly be in debt to the 25-year-old's goalscoring prowess if they are to edge their way into the play-off places come the end of the season.

However, it remains to be seen how Julien Stephan's side will continue to fare without him until March, having sustained a 'contact injury' at the turn of 2026.

7 ? ? Patrick Bamford - Sheffield United

Despite only being with Sheffield United for less than three months, Patrick Bamford's impact at Bramall Lane cannot be understated.

The two-time promotion winner has been able to put his previous misfortune behind him and make a strong impression under Chris Wilder after an initially intriguing free agent pickup from the Blades boss given previous friction between him and the striker.

However, the 32-year-old will certainly have a double-figure tally in his sights after being rewarded with a long-term contract last month after his prior short-term deal ran its course.

8 ? ? Patrick Agyemang - Derby County

Patrick Agyemang made a high-profile £7.3m switch from Charlotte FC to Derby County in the summer, and is now starting to show exactly why his signature was courted with such conviction after a slow start to his spell at Pride Park through injury.

The USMNT has certainly filled the void left by the injured Carlton Morris, who had managed to score 10 goals in the season's early weeks, meaning it is a mouth-watering prospect for Rams supporters to see them back in action as a duo in the near future.

9 ? ? Marvin Ducksch - Birmingham City

Despite Jay Stansfield being Birmingham City's 'poster boy', Marvin Ducksch has been the man largely featuring in the 'main striker' role under Chris Davies in recent weeks and months.

After also taking time to recover from an injury-hit pre-season, the German found form with three goals in two games in late November, before also becoming a standout performer for Blues in the Championship and FA Cup across January 2026, which included a smart brace in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Coventry City at St. Andrew's.

The former German international has also helped link up play well with the attacking talent that surrounds him.

Mihailo Ivanovic's form has been hit-and-miss in Millwall's promotion bid, with the Serbian recently springing back into life on the goalscoring front.

After the Lions were able to retain his services after a 12-goal campaign last term and summer transfer interest, it took Ivanovic 10 games to open his account for the season, with all of his strikes which have followed also coming in bursts.

However, there is every chance Alex Neil's side can solidify their play-off position if their prized asset is able to find target on an even more consistent basis.
