Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri says Luka Modric ‘brings enthusiasm and positivity’ to the squad, but his future at San Siro is still uncertain: ‘It’s up to him.’

Modric, 40, has been a regular Milan starter this season, and his contract expires in June.

Milan have an option to extend his stay until 2027, but the club won’t activate it unless the Croatian star agrees to stay.

Allegri’s update on Modric’s Milan future

During a pre-match press conference on Friday, the Rossoneri boss Allegri was asked whether Modric will remain at San Siro for one more season.

“The club will talk to him. It’s up to him,” Allegri said via SempreMilan.

“He has a World Cup to play in… In the meantime, let’s let him play, let him have fun.”

A six-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid, Modric has scored two goals and provided three assists in 31 appearances across all competitions this season.

He joined the Rossoneri last summer after the end of his contract with the La Liga giants.

“Luka arrived and brought quality not only on a technical level but above all on a human and professional level, especially for the younger players,” Allegri continued.
