Bordeaux, leaders of National 2 Group A, have signed Almamy Touré on a contract until June 2027. The 29-year-old Mali international, with one cap and a 2017 title winner with Monaco, is a former Eintracht Frankfurt defender.

He had been training with the squad since early November after leaving Kaiserslautern in June, according to L'Équipe. He recently underwent ankle surgery and hopes to be back on the pitch by late March.

In Gironde he reunites with head coach Bruno Irles, one of his mentors at Monaco, with whom he stayed in regular contact. Touré’s versatility at centre-back and right-back fits the staff’s technical demands and desired mindset.

On 16 November, after a 1-0 Coupe de France win over Boé Bon-Encontre in the seventh round, Irles said Touré could be an option, noting his 2022 Europa League triumph with Eintracht Frankfurt and praising his exemplary attitude in training.

Following Saturday’s 1-0 victory against Aviron Bayonnais on matchday 14, Irles added that Touré would be the Marine et Blanc’s only winter recruit.
