The briefings from the Daily Telegraph yesterday about Liam Rosenior’s future as Chelsea boss have now been added to by a very similar piece from Kieran Gill in the Daily Mail.

“Liam Rosenior’s position as Chelsea head coach is currently considered safe – even if the club end up failing to qualify for next season’s Champions League,” his piece opens confidently.

According to club insiders, only an “almighty collapse” would force a change in plans. And there is confidence that will not happen.

What a situation to be in – celebrating the fact there’s “confidence” that there won’t be an almighty collapse.

The source also told them that Rosenior had been allowed more involvement in transfer talks than his predecessor Enzo Maresca.

In the end, the problem is never going to be what those upstairs at Chelsea think. They desperately want Rosenior to succeed, and will do everything they can to make it happen.

The problem is what the players think. And right now, they’re looking a lot like they don’t fancy Rosenior and aren’t going to put in the work needed to make his reign at the club a success.

In other news…

Gus Poyet has also been speaking about Rosenior’s future, and he has less confidence than these sources.

Matt Law was on the London is Blue podcast this week and couldn’t believe something he’d seen in the PSG game a week ago.
