Manchester United’s Amad impressed in his club’s bore 0-0 draw with Leeds United during the first match of pre-season.
The 23-year-old played in the first half of the match but was subbed off at half-time, like the rest of his teammates.
He was hardly his usual electric self but this is more than fair in the first minutes of pre-season.
Nonetheless, he did provide an attacking spark that the rest of his teammates struggled to, with some nice passes and touches.
His best moment came just before half-time when he threaded a lovely ball through to Casemiro, whose deflected effort hit the crossbar.
The most notable aspect of Amad’s game is usually his dribbling but he impressed more with his passing range this afternoon.
The wing back completed 100% of his passes and made one key pass in a half of few chances.
He took on the responsibility of carrying a limp United attack and had one shot on goal and completed one of his two dribble attempts.
With the signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, Amad will likely play a lot of football at wing back, so he will need to contribute defensively.
He did so this afternoon in Stockholm as he won five ground duels during his 45 minutes on the pitch.
Amad did lose his only aerial battle, however.
The Ivory Coast international was one of the club’s shining lights last season and United fans will be praying that he can push on even more in the upcoming months.
Despite impressing last year, his season was dramatically affected by injuries and he will hope to stay fit more consistently in this campaign.
