Amadou Onana will be assessed again before Aston Villa’s Europa League semi-final first leg at Nottingham Forest after a knee problem.
According to The Athletic, there is no definitive timeframe for his recovery, with the Belgium international assessed daily earlier this week.
Unai Emery said the midfielder would be tested this afternoon before training, after being checked yesterday. Onana missed the 1-0 defeat at Fulham on Saturday.
The 24-year-old trained earlier in the week but sat out the final session before the trip to west London because of the knee issue he has been managing in recent weeks.
If he is absent, Lamare Bogarde, who started at Fulham, or Douglas Luiz, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Forest, could step in.
Ross Barkley is unavailable as he was not registered for the Europa League, and Boubacar Kamara remains sidelined until the summer with a knee injury.
Onana, Villa’s £50million ($67.m) club-record signing from Everton, has made 35 appearances this season, scoring twice.
