An Algeria national team outcast pushes for an AFCON call-up

An Algeria national team outcast makes a statement ahead of AFCON
It was a gala night for Ramiz Zerrouki. The Algerian international midfielder shone brightly for FC Twente during their 4-1 victory over Roda JC in the Dutch Cup. Delivering a hat-trick of assists, the Fennec put on a true midfield masterclass, confirming his return to top form.
Starting from the first whistle, Zerrouki orchestrated his team’s play with brilliance, combining precision, vision, and technical finesse. His influence in Twente’s build-up and attacking fluidity was lauded by the Dutch press, who awarded him an outstanding 9.5/10, the highest rating of the match.
Trained at Ajax before establishing himself at Twente, Zerrouki continues his impressive rise. His consistent performances could well convince Vladimir Petkovic to entrust him with a more central role in the Algerian squad, especially with AFCON 2025 on the horizon. For the 26-year-old midfielder, this is further confirmation: he is now one of the best deep-lying playmakers in the Dutch league and a major asset for the Fennecs.
