Manchester City take on Brighton tomorrow night in an important Premier League fixture for Pep Guardiola’s side. City have drawn their past two matches against Sunderland and Chelsea and will be eager to pick up three points at the Etihad. City has a depleted squad with a host of important players sidelined through injury and international duty. As Manchester City’s injury crisis continues to grow, any news of a player returning from injury is welcome news for Pep Guardiola’s side. Pep Guardiola revealed earlier today that Nico is available for tomorrow night’s match. That is a boost for City and it does give Pep Guardiola another option to utilise in midfield against Brighton.
Pep Guardiola revealed earlier today that Spanish midfielder Nico is available for tomorrow night’s important Premier League fixture against Brighton. When asked about Nico’s availability, Pep Guardiola said that Nico is ready to go for tomorrow night and he added an update on several other players. He explained: “Nico is fine and it’s good to have Nathan back. Max came back from Watford, and we appreciate what they have done for the young lad.”
“Omar and Rayan are at AFCON, and we have injuries to John and Oscar Bobb, while Jeremy and Rodri have come back from long injuries.“
“That is the situation, [Can we cope?] Of course. With the spirit we have.“
The news of Nico’s availability for Manchester City’s pivotal Premier League fixture against Brighton is welcome news for City. Pep Guardiola’s side is in the midst of an injury crisis and the news that any player is available for selection is good news for City. In the case of Nico, he could have a vital role to play against Brighton and Pep Guardiola does have options to use in midfield.
Nico could start in the place of Rodri or Bernardo Silva. Rodri has just returned from a long injury layoff and Manchester City will not want to push their midfield general too hard too soon. Perhaps Nico could slot into Rodri’s role tomorrow at the Etihad. Bernardo Silva, Rayan Cherki and Phil Foden have all carried a heavy workload so perhaps Nico could give one of those players a rest and play as a number eight in midfield. He is capable of doing so alongside Rodri. City do have that option to ponder with Nico available for selection.

Manchester City have received a boost with Nico available for tomorrow night’s match. It will now be interesting to see if he starts against a quality Brighton side who did beat City earlier this season.
