Corinthians midfielder Ana Vitória turned 26 on Friday, celebrating her birthday in camp with Brazil during the international window.
She came off the bench 18 minutes into the second half in the opener against Costa Rica, a 5-2 win. She then started the next game, was replaced 19 minutes into the second half, and Brazil lost 2-1. "It is always a happy moment when we have the opportunity to be here with the Brazil national team," she told CBF TV.
Despite her quality, she is still looking to nail down a starting spot. She had been out of the squad since May 2025 after injury forced her out of the Copa América, and was not called again until now.
Her first Corinthians spell began in 2017 under Corinthians/Audax, making her debut on 5 April in a 3-0 win over Vitória de Pernambuco. Across two seasons she played 57 games, scored eight and made three assists, winning the 2017 Libertadores and the 2018 Brasileiro.
She later moved to Benfica, Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético Madrid, totalling 72 goals and 23 assists in Europe, before returning to Corinthians in 2026. Internationally she rose through Brazil’s youth ranks, captained the Under-20s to the South American title, and featured at the 2023 World Cup and won Paris 2024 Olympic silver.
Brazil face Mexico on Saturday at 20:00 at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes in Mexico City.
