Carlo Ancelotti has recently announced his Brazil squad for the upcoming friendlies – the last international break before the 2026 FIFA Club World Cup this summer.

The five-time world champions are slated to take on France and Croatia, their two friendlies before the tournament kicks off in the summer.

Ancelotti’s squad list included the likes of Raphinha, Vinicius Jr. and even Endrick. However, one key exclusion was Rodrygo Goes.

The Brazilian international was ruled out due to a long-term injury he picked up recently, which may even keep him out on the sidelines for the remainder of the year.

Ancelotti’s message to Rodrygo

In the press conference on Monday, Ancelotti offered his thoughts on Rodrygo, lending support to the Brazilian while confirming that he will indeed miss the World Cup.

However, the Italian feels hopeful that Rodrygo will be able to participate in future World Cups, pointing out that the forward has a long future ahead of him.

“We wish him a speedy recovery. He will miss this World Cup, but he has time ahead of him and will be able to play in other World Cups and show his quality, as he has done so far. We look forward to seeing him at the next World Cup,” he said.

Earlier this month, the Brazilian FA had come out in support of Rodrygo as well, following the confirmation of his injury.

The winger himself has since issued an update, confirming that he is ready and has braced himself for a long battle, as he looks to recover from the injury as quickly as possible.

Interestingly, another absentee from the Brazil squad was Neymar, but Ancelotti has confirmed the Barcelona legend can still make it into the team if he performs well.
