It was a well-earned win, with the team showing control over the game, even if they did not play at an excessively high tempo.

David Alaba’s return

One of the key takeaways from the match was David Alaba’s return to action. The Austrian defender had been sidelined for a significant period due to injury, but his presence on the pitch was a major boost for the team.

Ancelotti highlighted how vital it was to have him back in defence, especially as Real Madrid have been dealing with injuries in their backline.

“We played well, it wasn’t an exaggerated rhythm but we controlled it well. Alaba’s recovery is important because we started to recover pieces at the back. Today we were able to rest Valverde and Rudiger,” Ancelotti began saying.

The manager also suggested that Alaba could be in contention for a starting spot in the upcoming Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid. Although he had been ready to return a month ago, a setback delayed his comeback.

“Alaba comes from a very long injury and has played a great game. He has been comfortable and well positioned, he can start against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.”

Now, he just needs regular playing time to regain full match sharpness. Fortunately for Real Madrid, the defensive crisis seems to be easing, and they no longer have urgent concerns in that area.

“He was ready a month ago, although he relapsed with the abductor injury. All he needs is to play. And he has no problem playing one game a week. We don’t have so much emergency in defence anymore,” he added.

On Vinicius and Mbappe

The match was sealed in style with a stunning goal from Vinicius Jr., assisted by Kylian Mbappe.

Ancelotti was thoroughly impressed with Vinicius, stating that even though his finishing may vary from game to game, his ability to take on defenders makes him nearly unstoppable.

“I have seen Vinicius at his best, he may have more or less success, but he has been unstoppable. Every time he faced they couldn’t stop him.”

Mbappe, despite not scoring, played an important role in the victory. He provided an assist and remained a constant attacking threat.

“Mbappe was very happy, he didn’t score but he gave an assist. He has been very dangerous. He cares a lot about the team winning,” he noted.

When asked about Arda Guler, the Italian coach confirmed that the young talent is fully fit and ready to contribute whenever needed. “Okay, ready to play.”

Words for Modric

As for Luka Modric, the veteran midfielder once again left fans in awe with a brilliant goal. Ancelotti, with a smile, admitted that he has run out of words to describe Modric’s brilliance.

“Phew (laughs)! I’ve already used all the possible words for Modric. I have nothing new for him (smiles) . He is simply always spectacular,” added the manager.

With this win, Real Madrid maintain their momentum in the title race, and Ancelotti will be pleased with the growing squad depth as crucial fixtures approach.
