With Wesley out of the Brazil squad through a muscle injury, Ancelotti has turned to Flamengo’s Danilo and Al Ahli (SAU) defender Ibañez for right-back. Danilo is currently viewed as the frontrunner to take the role.

GE reports that Ancelotti sees both as more defensive profiles who line up as centre-backs for their clubs, but he does not consider that an issue.

Marquinhos and Fabinho can also fill in at right-back, yet Ancelotti is not minded to improvise them at this stage.

Danilo came on after Wesley departed during the friendly against Egypt last Saturday in the United States.

Ancelotti still has training sessions before deciding the starter. Brazil face Morocco on Saturday 13 in the opening round of the World Cup group stage, with kick-off at 19:00 Brasília time.
