André Luiz scored Corinthians’ consolation in a 3-1 defeat at Fluminense on Wednesday, a strike that moved him clear as the club’s second-top scorer in 2026. The Brasileirão match in Rio de Janeiro formed part of the ninth round.

Meu Timao notes the change in the club’s scoring chart this year.

Fluminense led 3-0 late on. At 42 minutes of the second half, André saw a long-range effort deflect wide for a corner. From the restart the ball broke back to him and he drove in, the goal standing after a lengthy VAR check.

He now has three goals in 17 appearances under Dorival Júnior. Breno Bidon and Gabriel Paulista have two each. Yuri Alberto leads the way with four in 12.

Earlier in 2026 he scored in the 3-0 win over Ponte Preta in Corinthians’ Paulistão opener, and in the 1-0 victory against São Bernardo, also in the State competition.

In 2025 he scored twice, against Mirassol and Fortaleza in Brasileirão fixtures. Corinthians aim to respond on Sunday, hosting Internacional at Neo Química Arena at 19:30 in the 10th round.
