Andreas Pereira says he has left his Flamengo story behind as he starts life at Palmeiras.

"I understand, it is the fans. I am a fan, I know what it is like to support a team. If it happened to me, I would do the same. I want to write my story here with Palmeiras. When I came here, I knew everything I did at Flamengo, the admiration on the other side, was left behind," he told Palmeiras Cast.

"I think that is part of football. Other players have done it, only great players have managed to make this switch and keep the same level. I told myself, I believe I can do it. I want to be successful at Palmeiras."

On loan from Manchester United, Pereira joined Flamengo in mid 2021. His spell is often remembered for a slip in extra time of the 2021 Libertadores final against Palmeiras, which left Deyverson to score. Flamengo chose not to buy him.

He played 53 times for Flamengo, scoring eight goals with three assists. His final goal came in his farewell, away to Deportivo Tolima in the Libertadores round of 16.

In 2025, Flamengo became four-time continental champions with the midfielder on the other side, now in Palmeiras colours. Next up, Flamengo host Lanús at 21:30, Brasília time, on Thursday 26 at the Maracanã in the Recopa Sudamericana second leg.
