Former Manchester United striker has gone early with his predictions
Andy Cole has backed Manchester United to win the Premier League title next season, under Michael Carrick.
Carrick was initially appointed head coach until the end of the campaign, but was handed the role on a permanent basis after leading the club to a third-placed finish in the Premier League.
Carrick has since been credited with instilling a confidence in the team as well as a new exciting ball-playing style that allowed United to utilise their talented squad more effectively.
Cole, therefore believes, with Pep Guardiola now leaving a power vacuum in English football, Carrick and his squad could be the ones to step up.
“If they can go into this season with the same confidence they ended with last season, you never know what can happen,” Cole told Sky Sports.
“I think everyone will be thinking like that now. Pep leaving Manchester City means that we’ve got a chance of winning the Premier League.”

Arsenal will be favourites, to retain their title as other their rivals enter periods of transition with new managers taking the helm at Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City.
But if United can make the shrewd summer signings they are targeting then they could be a genuine threat at the top of the table.
United, reportedly, also have eyes on West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes and Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers as a big midfield overhaul is the focus after three big attacking signings last summer.
