Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has praised Dominic Solanke after the match against Bournemouth.
Spurs played out a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Cherries went into the half-time break 1-0 up after Marcus Tavernier scored in the 42nd minute when he latched onto Milos Kerkez’s cross and found the back of the net.
Bournemouth doubled their advantage in the 65th minute through Evanilson’s lifted finish.
Tottenham halved the deficit just two minutes later when Pape Matar Sarr’s intended cross looped in.
Then in the 84th minute Son Heung-min scored from the penalty spot to rescue a point for Tottenham.
Son was brought down by Bournemouth goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga for the penalty.
After the match, Tottenham boss Postecoglou praised Solanke for his work ethic and was pleased that the £55 million (BBC Sport) English striker could play for 90 minutes.
Postecoglou told Football.London about Solanke: “Great for Dom to get 90 minutes today, he’s such a workhorse for us and I’m sure he’ll feel better for that.”
Solanke joined Tottenham from Premier League rivals Bournemouth in the summer of 2024.
The 27-year-old scored 19 goals and gave three assists in 38 Premier League appearances for the Cherries last season, and the expectation was that the England international would repeat those heroics for Spurs, who have been linked with Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen.
However, injury issues have affected Solanke, who has not been very clinical when he has played.
The striker has scored seven goals and given three assists in 19 Premier League games for the North London outfit so far this season.
Solanke worked hard against his former club Bournemouth and looked tired towards the end.
The problem was that the striker did not get much service and was not much of a threat for the Bournemouth defenders.
Solanke took just 32 touches of the ball, and only three of them were in the opposition’s box, according to TottenhamHotspurNews.
