Nice won 2-0 at Angers on Saturday, Morgan Sanson one of the few to enliven a laboured display as SCO goalkeeper Hervé Koffi excelled before finally being beaten.
L'Équipe notes that Sanson tried to inject tempo in a flat contest, while Koffi’s resistance kept Angers in it for long spells.
The first half offered little until Sanson drew the game’s first save at 44 minutes, then Koffi denied Hicham Boudaoui in added time. After the break he tipped over a Clauss free-kick on 51 and blocked Antoine Mendy following a surging run on 54.
Elye Wahi returned from injury on 62 minutes for Kevin Carlos, who had 16 touches and zero shots. Two minutes later Wahi burst through to tee up Melvin Bard for the opener, Koffi could do little about the finish.
Koffi then thwarted Wahi on 71 after Branco Van den Boomen’s risky turnover, while Sbaï escaped Mendy but missed the target on 83. Wahi sealed it with a late lob on 90+6.
In the ratings, Sanson and Mendy were given six, with Koffi on seven. Carlos received three, Van den Boomen and Goduine Koyalipou four, and Wahi was not rated.
