Barcelona could face a major attacking dilemma as their growing interest in Anthony Gordon threatens to complicate the future of Marcus Rashford.
According to reports from SPORT, Gordon’s possible arrival at Barcelona may directly impact several attacking operations currently under discussion at the club.
One of the biggest consequences could involve Rashford, whose continuity at the club is now becoming increasingly uncertain despite earlier optimism surrounding the deal.
The England international had already received the sporting approval from Hansi Flick and Barcelona’s technical department following his productive spell at the club.

In fact, Rashford is even understood to have agreed to a significant salary reduction in order to continue wearing the Blaugrana shirt.
However, the situation has now become complicated because Gordon offers a very similar tactical profile.
Like Rashford, the Newcastle United attacker is capable of playing both on the left wing and centrally in attack.
Although the two players possess different styles, Barcelona view Gordon as a younger and more valuable long-term option, and that changing priority has slowed discussions surrounding Rashford’s future.

At the same time, Manchester United are losing patience and want clarity as quickly as possible.
The Premier League club believes Barcelona cannot continue delaying the situation while simultaneously pursuing expensive moves for other attacking players.
In England, they feel that if Barcelona are capable of negotiating a deal worth around €70 million for Anthony Gordon, then they should also be capable of paying the agreed €30 million purchase option for Rashford.
Financially, keeping the player’s salary on the books is considered a major issue for Manchester United and because of that, they are pushing Barcelona to make a definitive decision soon rather than allowing negotiations to drag on throughout the summer.
